Types of Parents; Is Preschool the Fast Track to the Ivy League?

Types of Parents Oh yes, Types of parents...and Good Parenting....A blurb we just LOVE to LOVE. Enjoy!

Christie Mellor is one of our absolute favorite authors... below is a snippet from her "The Three-Martini Playdate;

"Is Preschool the Fast Track to the Ivy League?

At a dinner party one evening, I found myself in conversation with another parent of a preschooler. This man was a lawyer, and had grown up in one of those lovely small town somewhere in the upper middle part of the country, where they have bucolic scenery, ponds, woods, and real winners. I asked this man if he ever thought about moving back to his hometown with the family to raise his child away from the smog and congestion of a large city. He replied that he had thought about it, but didn't want to jeopardize his son's "future earning potential."His child was four years old. Four. Years. Old. Future. Earning. Potential.

Another couple I know have put their darling ten-month-old on a waiting list for a preschool they recently visited. They sincerely love the atmosphere of the place, but are worried that the academics might be a little lax. Preschool. Academics".

Seriously people?
